Healthcare job fair to be held in West Plains
In South Central Missouri, just like everywhere else in the country, employment in healthcare occupations is projected to increase by 14% through 2028, a much faster growth rate than average for all occupations. Across the nation, 1.9 million new jobs will be opening up; significantly more than in any other occupational group.
Add to these alarming statistics the fact that South Central Missouri is a health professional shortage area (HPSA) for primary medical, mental health and dental professionals. With more than 385 healthcare employers in Howell, Texas, Wright, Douglas, Ozark and Oregon counties alone, there will be hundreds of critical healthcare positions that need to be filled.
Fortunately, South Central Missouri and northern Arkansas is home to several strong healthcare training programs. Missouri State University-West Plains, Three Rivers College, Ozarka College, Texas County Technical College, South Central Career Center and Ozark Mountain Technical Center are preparing nurses, surgical technicians, health information technologists, and other critical health care workers for these jobs. Several programs are due to graduate students at the end of the 2019—which is why Missouri Job Center-West Plains is hosting its first-ever Regional Health Care Job Fair.
The Regional Health Care Job Fair takes place Friday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ozark Action Inc., Building 2, 710 E. Main St., West Plains. Eighteen healthcare employers from across the region will be recruiting for a wide variety of positions, including: RNs, LPNs, CNAs and trainees, medical assistants, surgical technicians, home healthcare workers, billing clerks, dietary, housekeeping and laundry workers, direct care staff, administrative staff, hospice workers, chaplains, customer service personnel, dentists/physicians and volunteers.
Employers include: Ozarks Medical Center, Mercy Hospital (Mountain View and Springfield), Baxter Regional Medical Center (Mountain Home, AR), Air Evac Medical Holdings, Willow Health Care, NHC Health Care, Autumn Oaks Caring Center, Missouri Highlands Health Care, Southern Missouri Community Health Center, Ozark Independent Living, Thrive Home Agency, Hospice Compassus, Three Rivers Hospice, Good Samaritan Care Clinic and Vocational Rehabilitation.
Job seekers and interested parties are encouraged to dress for success, bring resumes, show up early and be ready to meet face-to-face with hiring agents looking for employees. It will be a great opportunity to find your future!
