Landing pad to be built in Koshkonong
Koshkonong Fire Department has donated land to build a landing pad near the department.
Clara Haley stated Air Evac has had to make emergency landings in Koshknonong and in a lot that consists mostly of gravel, which makes landing a helicopter difficult.
The department has initiated a plan to create a 20 by 20 landing pad including the pole, windsock and lighting around the pad. A sidewalk, which will be approximately four feet wide will also be installed leading from the site.
“It will be located on our fire department property,” said Haley.
To help fund the project, Alton Bank donated $1,500 from the bank’s employees’ charity funds.
Firefighters are selling Krispy Kreme donuts to help raise money for the project. You may contact one of the firefighters or Bill or Clara Haley to purchase donuts or would like to donate to the project.
A light will be installed on the water tower as a safety precaution by the city.
They are looking for dirt to help fill in a low place on the property, but not where the aircraft will be landed.
