Communities announce Christmas event and parade schedules
It is that time of year again, when sleigh bells ring and they glisten. As the community gears up for Christmas, there are no shortage of events to attend.
The Ash Flat Christmas Parade will take place on Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. Line-up will begin at 3:30 in the Ash Flat Livestock Auction parking lot. The new route will begin out of the parking lot, turning left on Highway 354 and ending at the city park (across from the library). This year’s theme is “Ol’ Time Christmas”. Immediately following the parade, there will be a Christmas tree lighting in the park along with several other festivities, including prizes for each division which are floats, tractors, vehicles, ATVs, and horses. Christmas in the Village will take place Dec. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Town Center in Cherokee Village. In addition to the annual tree lighting ceremony, music, concessions and more will be available.
Additional events include the ACNA Holiday Bazaar to he held Dec. 2 at the Arts Center in Cherokee Village from 4 to 7 p.m.
The Cave City Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. Lineup will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Cave City High School parking lot. Floats must be registered and forms are available on the Cave City Kiwanis and Cave City Facebook pages, as well as, at city hall. The deadline to register is Nov. 29.
A memorial tree lighting ceremony as well as pictures with Santa and Ms. Clause, the Grinch, free popcorn and hot chocolate will be available at the Cave City Park immediately following the parade. A rain date of Dec. 14 has been set.
Horseshoe Bend Christmas Parade will be held Dec 7 at 10 a.m. with lineup starting at the Horseshoe Bend Chamber of Commerce. The parade will make its way to the grocery store, turn by FNBC Bank and will make its way back around toward the chamber office. Following the parade, Santa will be at the chamber office to visit with each child and gift bags will be given out to children by the chamber.
Melbourne Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 7 with lineup beginning at 4 p.m. and the parade starting at 5 p.m. Entry to participate in the parade is a toy or food item to be given to DHS. Regina and Paul Womack will collect the items. Lineup will start at Ozarka College and the route is as follows: from the college to the stoplight, turning right at the light, right on Moser Street and back toward the park for a lighting ceremony and visit with Santa.
In addition to a business and residential lighting contest, the Salem Chamber of Commerce will also host their annual Christmas parade on Monday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. Parade line-up will be at Preacher Roe Park on Highway 9 North at 5:30 p.m. No registration is required to enter a float. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place. Prior to the parade, Bank of Salem will be giving away free cookies and FNBC will be giving away hot chocolate. Santa will also be at the gazebo on the southeast court square following the parade.
The Hardy Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. with lineup at 10 a.m. across from city hall. This year’s theme is “A Pioneer Christmas”, and prizes will be awarded to winners following the parade. The route will go from city hall through Main Street to the stop light, turning right at McDonald’s where it will end.
There will also be a Dress A Girl Around the World event to take place at the Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Baby Booties and Hats class to be held Dec. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.
