Cherokee Village Senior Center to host Bingo Night
The Cherokee Village Senior Center is hosting a bingo night event Jan. 28 in order to raise funds for a hot box for one of the center’s vans.
According to Jama LaPlaunt, Director of the Cherokee Village Senior Center, the event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., with the cost of admission being $10.
“It will be all you can eat tacos and four free cards for the $10. We will be giving away some nice prizes,” LaPlaunt said.
The funds raised will be used to purchase a hot box to help keep food warm while it is being transported from Brockwell in Izard County back to Ash Flat and ultimately to Cherokee Village and Hardy.
“We get our food from Brockwell and the driver that is the Ash Flat driver, goes to Brockwell and picks up all the food for our area. And then he goes to the center in Ash Flat. Instead of having to transport this big hot box from one van to another, it’d be much easier to have a hot box for each van,” LaPlaunt said. “Right now, when my driver goes to Ash Flat, she has to load the box from one van to another and it gets heavy. It takes about three or four people to do that, especially when there are three to four pans in the box. This would make things easier.”
The cost of the box is a little over $300.
