Fulton County authorities investigate shooting
Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork issued a press release on Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25) about an incident which had recently occurred.
“On Dec. 24, at 1:43 a.m., the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the Fulton County Hospital [stating] that a 52-year-old hispanic male subject had just arrived by private vehicle at the ER with multiple gunshot wounds.
The man was brought in by his 30-year-old son who was here visiting for the holidays from Texas. Th man suffering gunshot wounds was sent to UAMS in Little Rock by Survival Flight where he underwent emergency surgery for the injuries. He is expected to recover.
The sheriff’s deputies and special agents with the Arkansas State Police were contacted and a search warrant of a home located on Magnolia Road, south of Salem, was conducted. It was determined that a domestic occurred between the two men shortly after midnight. The two had been drinking and the father became angry at the son and physical altercation began.
The younger man was able to get away from his dad and retreated into a bedroom. The father went to the back of the house and retrieved a 9 mm handgun and began shooting. The son grabbed a 40 caliber handgun in his bedroom and began to fire back, striking his father several times in the torso and arm.
No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation continues.”
