Alton Comets

Upcoming basketball games on the schedule for the Alton Comets and Lady Comets include visiting Couch on Tuesday, Jan., 12 and home games with Summersville.

Couch Indians

Upcoming basketball action this week for the Couch Indians and Lady Indians include a game at Dora (6-9) scheduled for Monday, Jan. 11. The Indians and Lady Indians are scheduled to host Alton (7-5) on Tuesday, Jan. 12 and travel to Bunker (8-2) on Friday, Jan. 15.

Koshkonong Bluejays

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Koshkonong Blue Jays lost a game at Dora by 22 points (81-59).

On Monday, Jan. 4, the Koshkonong Lady Blue Jays won a home game against Alton by 42 points (69-27).

Mammoth Spring Bears

On Friday, Jan. 8, the Mammoth Spring Bears defeated the Armorel Tigers 72-39. Aidan Burns was top scorer for the Bears with 25 points. Logan Doss made 14 points. Cole Young added 12 points. Zack Flynn made 10 points. On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Bears defeated the Cotter Warriors 71-33. Aidan Burns and Cole Young each made 18 points. Logan Doss added 16 points.

On Friday, Jan. 8, the Mammoth Spring Lady Bears defeated the Armorel Lady Tigers 59-21. Sara Crowe and Chevelle Graves each made 14 points. Shelby VanGinhoven had 12 points, and Megyn Upton scored 11 points.On Thurs., Jan. 7, the Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds defeated the Lady Bears 70-48. Sara Crowe scored 17 points for the Lady Bears. Chevelle Graves made 12 points, and Megyn Upton had 10 points. On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Cotter Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Bears 45-34. Sara Crowe had 16 points for the Lady Bears.

On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Bears and Lady Bears are scheduled to play the Maynard Tigers and Lady Tigers.

On Friday, Jan. 15, the Bears are scheduled to play the Marked Tree Indians.

Thayer Bobcats

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Thayer Bobcats defeated Gainesville (8-5) by 15 points (57-42) to remain undefeated going into their game with Viola, 20-2, (Arkansas), the top ranked 1A team in the state of Arkansas.

The Viola Longhorns came to Thayer and jumped out to a double-digit lead to start the game. Thayer made a comeback but fell short by four points (66-62). The Longhorns were somewhat cold from the free throw line, and the Bobcats appeared to start fouling to send Viola to the line hoping to possibly trade giving up one point and the Bobcats making two or three points on the next possession.

The Bobcats were scheduled to play Eminence on Tuesday, Jan. 12. On Friday, Jan. 15, Thayer is scheduled to play Willow Springs (8-4).
