Dixie Myrl (Shaw) Harris, 83, of Salem, Ark., departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in Morrilton, Ark. Dixie was born Aug. 18, 1938, to Delbert Booth Shaw and Veron Mae (Payne) Shaw in Luxora, Ark. 

Dixie spent most of her working years as a clerk for Aid True Value Hardware Store in Salem. Dixie opened and ran a used bookstore when she first moved to Salem. Dixie worked as a volunteer at the Fulton County Hospital and on the Senior Employment Program at the Fulton County Fairgrounds and was head of the Fulton County Homecoming Festival Street Market. Dixie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Heart Ladies Club, Relay for Life, and a lifetime member of the Salem VFW Auxiliary Post #9777. Dixie held offices in each group she was a member of and was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Ark.  She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Dixie leaves to mourn her passing, son, Joe Catlin and wife Sheila of O’Fallon, Illinois; daughter, Kitty Strickland of Morrilton, Ark.; four grandchildren, Memory Strickland, Chase Strickland, Jacob Catlin, and Valerie Payne; two great grandchildren, Evan Strickland, and Bentley Strickland; sister, Wanda Sawyer of Jonesboro, Ark.; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her son (Jim Catlin), parents, granddaughter (Louise Catlin), sister (Frances Darnell), and brother (James “Buddy” Shaw).

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2022, at the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Ark. with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation was 1 to 2 p.m. at the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Ark. Memorials may be made to the Salem First Baptist Church Building Fund.
