The Izard County Consolidated School Board met in regular session on June 18th in the high school board room.

Superintendent Fred Walker told the board he had talked recently with the school architect and the plans for the track and field project will soon be completed and projections are to bid the project out in September. Walker told the board that the project will have an eight-lane running track and will also include areas for the field events (pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus and shot competitions). Walker said the project will include the construction of bleachers, a concession stand, dressing rooms, and restrooms. He said that the school district will be able to host state and district track meets upon completion of the project. Walker said this project will provide another way to provide more opportunities for our students.

The board also accepted the resignation of second grade teacher Shari Simino and agreed to employ Renea Houghtaling as a second grade teacher for the 2020-21 school year.
