The Rose Hill Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting and decoration service on Saturday, May 28 at 12 noon. A potluck meal will follow in the Rose Hill School Building. Everyone interested is invited to attend.

A significant event will honor Seaman 2nd Class, Brady O. Prewitt, who died during the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. His remains, recovered and identified from the site where Prewitt’s ship, the BB-37 USS Oklahoma, sank during that attack, have finally come home and will be laid to rest.

Katie Fish of Salem High School won a $575 scholarship at the International Science and Engineering Fair for her project on “The Psychological Effects of Absent Fathers.” The international event was held in Atlanta the week of May 8-13. A semi-truck drove into the Sharp County Fairgrounds loaded with nonperishable food items on the afternoon of Friday, May 13. The truck pulled up to a pavilion where eager adults and children waited to unload the truck of its generous offerings to be passed on to multiple food banks, pantries, missions, ministries and other organizations that provide food for individuals and families in need in our communities.
