Generous Christian-based organization helps stock community food resources

A semi-truck drove into the Sharp County Fairgrounds loaded with nonperishable food items on the afternoon of Friday, May 13. The truck pulled up to a pavilion where eager adults and children waited to unload the truck of its generous offerings to be passed on to multiple food banks, pantries, missions, ministries and other organizations that provide food for individuals and families in need in our communities.

Salem High School students win Bassmaster High School Central Open

Eighth grade students from Salem High School, Huntlee York and Colton Smith, recently won the Bassmaster High School Central Open held on April 24 on Lake Norfork. They caught a five bass limit that weighed 13 lbs 7 oz. They punched their ticket to the Bassmaster High School National tournament on Aug. 11-13 on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina. Blood donations needed ahead of summer

Cooking Stage and Pie Competition at Old-Time Music, Ozark Heritage Festival

Old-time cooking – the stories, recipes, and dishes will be featured both days at this year’s What’s Cookin’ Stage at the Old-Time Music, Ozark Heritage Festival, along with a healthy dose of Dutch Oven cooking. This is the 17th year for the Cooking Stage. Aid’s Downtown Antiques are again sponsoring this event. This year’s theme is “Ozarks Comfort Food - Dutch Oven Cooking”,

Spring Junior Livestock Show entry deadline

Fulton County Fair officials remind exhibitors that entries for the Spring Junior Livestock Show scheduled for May 21 should be pre-registered by May 15. The online entry program will shut down at midnight on this date and exhibitors will not be able to enter online. Go to http://fultonsjls. fairwire.com for a list of classes and make online entries. All entry fees should be paid online with a credit or debit card.
