Longtime community leader Rev. Wayne Wood has been named a Trustee Emeritus by the Calico Rock Community Foundation Board. Wood is a founding trustee of the foundation and the Calico Rock Museum. Wood is stepping down from the board this year after 14 years of faithful service.
The Friends of the Paul Weaver Library partnered with Ozarka College to host their ninth annual art extravaganza, Tour D’ Art. Held on Ozarka’s Melbourne campus, the event showcased over 300 pieces of art that was enjoyed by a steady flow of tour groups including Ozarka students, area high schools, and community members.
Zachary Gunnels, a senior at Mammoth Spring High School, signed a letter of intent, committing to attend Black River Technical College in the Fall of 2022. Zachary plans to seek a de gree in Nursing. The 2022 Signing Day took place on Saturday, May 7 in the Lobby of the Administration Building on the Pocahontas campus. Zachary was accompanied by his parent, Nicole Buls. BRTC would like to recognize and celebrate Zachary’s decision to attend college and congratulate him on his high school graduation.

The 75th annual Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program has named the 2022 County Farm Families of the Year. The families will be visited by a set of judges to determine eight District Farm Families of the Year, which will be announced June 14. The state Farm Family of the Year will be announced in December at the Farm Family of the Year luncheon.
The Arkansas Securities Department (ASD) announced Thursday, April 28 that Amber Crouch has been promoted to general counsel following the retirement of the ASD’s long-serving chief attorney, David Smith. As general counsel, Crouch will supervise the staff attorneys and manage the legal affairs of the ASD.
Alieen Paysinger-Reed, 66, of Dardanelle, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born June 7, 1955 in Batesville, Ark., to the late Doraine Paysinger and Clara Paysinger. Alieen was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and she enjoyed taking pictures, loved to cook, trout fish and she loved her fur babies. She was a true St. Louis Cardinal, Kansas City Chiefs and Arkansas Razorback fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Verlene Reed and her sister-in-law, Donna Reed.
Mr. William Cody Foster, 86, of Mountain Home, Ark., passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at his residence. He was born March 7, 1936, in Ava, Mo. to Custer and Arsno (Deathrage) Foster. He was a Navy airplane mechanic who enjoyed repairing clocks, woodworking and bird watching.
Marshall Cawvey, of West Plains, Mo., long-time West Plains resident, passed from this earthly life on May 4 at the home of his daughter in Fair Grove, Mo. He was 93 years old and died of natural causes.
