The Salem Girl’s Basketball team travelled to Branson this past week for the Licking Basketball Camp. There was a total of 75 teams there with boys and girls combined. The camp was maxed out with the amount of teams allowed. The girls left with a record of 4-3 playing teams from bigger schools in Oklahoma and Missouri
Cecil and Jamee Morehead, along with their four children, Ryan (19), Heath (14) Jacee (11) and Kacee (11), received the honor of being named Izard County’s 2021 Farm Family of the Year. The Moreheads welcomed members of the media on Thursday, June 9, to their family home located in Oxford.

On Thursday, June 23, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX – the landmark civil rights law that has opened doors for generations of women and girls – the U.S. Department of Education released for public comment proposed changes to the regulations that help elementary and secondary schools and colleges and universities implement this vital legislation. The proposed amendments will restore crucial protections for students who are victims of sexual harassment, assault, and sex-based discrimination – a critical safety net for survivors that was weakened under previous regulations. The proposed regulations will advance educational equity and opportunity for women and girls across the country to ensure that every student in America, from kindergarten through a doctorate degree, can achieve her dreams.

A teacher professional development workshop for high school chemistry teachers and chemistry lab managers is open for educators in two six-hour sessions at the U of A Community College at Batesville in July.
Fulton County Fair officials remind exhibitors that entries, including pageant and talent should be pre-registered by July 1st. Pageants will be held before the fair opens on July 16 and 18. Entry forms are available online on the fair website at www.fultoncountyfair.org
Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will hold its monthly all-u-can-eat fried fish and shrimp dinner this coming Friday, July 1st from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests may order fried fish, fried shrimp or a combination plate which also includes hushpuppies, French fries, coleslaw, vegetable, roll, dessert and a beverage.
