Private loans bridge gap between college costs, other student aid

Most college-bound students qualify for financial aid to help pay for their education, such as federal and state grants, scholarships and federal loans. But some students may find that these programs don’t cover all the costs of college, according to KHEAA. Others may not qualify for state and federal aid because they’re going to school less than half-time.

Viola Masons to host benefit luncheon at new lodge

The new Viola Masonic Lodge will be holding their annual barbecue luncheon benefit once again on Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. After a three year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Masons are back raising funds toward scholarships for local students in the Viola School District who are interested in pursuing a secondary education after high school. The menu includes a barbecue sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw and tea. Tickets are $10 each at the door. The new Viola Masonic Lodge is located at 239 Hwy. 223 S. in Viola across from Fun Days restaurant.
