Comfort Keepers Ministry is kicking off the summer with a “Safety Swim Day” for kids, ages three and up, on June 11 at the Cherokee Village Townhouse pool, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Staci McHenry will be the instructor. A shift in thinking about environmental sustainability on the farm as a long-term risk mitigation factor is taking place in agricultural economics. Lawson Connor, assistant professor of agricultural economics and agribusiness with the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas, is working to quantify the economic effects of sustainability practices such as cover crop programs and water conservation tactics.
The Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce and the Quad Cities Rotary Club of Sharp County will host the annual Spring River Open Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 25 at the South Golf Course in Cherokee Village to raise funds for community projects throughout the area.
The Ozarka College Foundation has selected Kohl Caraway of Izard County to serve on the Foundation Board of Directors. Board members serve a five-year term and work collectively to support the mission of Ozarka College to provide life-changing experiences to individuals through education. The Ozarka College Foundation Board encourages participation and volunteerism in a variety of ways and foundation members serve in a public relations capacity to represent Ozarka College in their individual communities.
Alec McArthur of Swifton, Ark. completed his instrument rating at the Melbourne Municipal Airport on May 18, 2022. He plans to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Aviation – Commercial Pilot upon completion of this program.
