Summer always brings back memories of my family’s road trips to Petit Jean State Park and other adventures around Arkansas. Whether I was in the back seat as a kid or driving my own daughters, there was always a lot to see and do as we explored the state.
WEEKLY COLUMN This week, we received the Fiscal Year 2022 Revenue Summary. It shows we ended the last fiscal year with the largest surplus in state history.

The Cherokee Village Fire Department hosts an annual Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast tradition, and this year was no exception. The fundraiser was held at the Baseheart Fire Station beginning at 6:30 a.m.

Her music style ranges from contemporary gospel music to the sounds of easy rock. Barnes’ unique style promises to guide you along your way to the park where you just might decide to take a break in the shade. Bring an ice cream or soda and come chill for awhile.
The Stone County Hometown Health Coalition Annual Health and Education Fair will be held Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Mountain View High School Gymnasium. This year’s event will host over thirty-one organizations and local businesses to provide resources related to health and education for all age groups of the Stone County community.
The 128th Old Soldiers Reunion began Monday, July 11 and will be held through Saturday, July 16. at Mammoth Spring State Park. The event features carnival rides, games, music, concerts, vendors, food, raffles, Bingo and a silent auction.
The 38th annual Antique & Classic Car Show sponsored by Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mammoth Spring State Park ball field. Judging will be at 11 a.m. The show will feature muscle car, rat rods, an tiques, classics, show trucks and modern class. More than 50 trophies will be awarded. The event will feature music, food, cruise in and T- shirts will be available.
A blood drive will be held at Ash Flat Library on Friday, July 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Conference Room located at 11 Arnhart Drive in Ash Flat. All presenting donors will receive a free book mark.
Sharp County Judge Gene Moore announced effective immediately on July 6, a burn ban has been issued for Sharp County. .
