The Arkansas School Safety Commission is meeting frequently in order to have an initial report ready for the governor and legislators by August 1. The commission has been charged with updating its original report, which was issued in November of 2018.

There continues to be an upward climb in the number of COV- ID-19 cases in our region. As always observe appropriate health habits, be alert to situations which may be conducive to exposure, and if experiencing virus symptoms get tested. Progressive Eye Center entered First Horizon Bank’s “Back to Business” contest. The contest was open to forprofit business entities in several states and cities, including NortheastArkansas. Eligible businesses could submit their entries into the contest, including creativestatements, photos, and videos describing how their business would use the prize money. Fifty

LakeView Car Rentals, AllSteel and Mary Hall, Local Scentsy Consultant, will provide $750 added money for the second annual Fulton County Fair Corn Hole Tournament scheduled for July 22 in the Salem Civic Center. The tournament will start at 6 p.m. and is open to anyone. The entry fee is $25/team with half of the fees going into prize money. The tournament will be ACO rules and it will be double elimination.
If you’re like me, there were few days on the calendar that I looked forward to more than the last day of school when I was young. As a parent, I understand how challenging the summer months are to keeping kids busy. Communities offer specialized programs to engage youth through public library reading programs, sports camps and Boys and Girls Clubs. For young people aiming to challenge themselves and make a difference in the lives of others, there is the Congressional Award.

The Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce and the Quad Cities Rotary Club hosted the annual Spring River Open Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 25 at the South Golf Course in Cherokee Village to raise funds for community projects throughout the area.
