Public meeting scheduled to seek input on updating the Statewide Public Transit Coordination Plan

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will conduct several public meetings across the state to seek input on an update to the federally required Statewide Public Transit Coordination Plan. Public transit coordination provides an opportunity to identify mobility needs in Arkansas and develop a consensus on how to meet those needs. The updated Transit Coordination Plan will allow ARDOT and its transit partners to further strengthen their resource management capabilities.

Orthopaedic Clinic holds groundbreaking ceremony

White River Health (WRH) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility dedicated to continuing orthopaedic excellence at White River Health Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine, previously known as WRMC Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic. The new facility is being constructed on the White River Medical Center campus on what is currently the walking track. Site preparation work is scheduled to begin immediately, and construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023. The general contractor, Wil-Bry Construction plans to use Sidney Street to access the construction site, minimizing the disruption to drivers onHarrison Street.

Homegrown By Heroes Scholarship offered for agriculture training

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture and Farm Credit Associations of Arkansas are partnering to provide a $1,000 Homegrown by Heroes scholarship to military veterans and active military personnel to attend the Center for Arkansas Farm and Food’s Farm School, a comprehensive training program for new or beginning specialty crop producers. Funding for the scholarship is generously provided by Farm Credit. Applications are due Sept. 1 and are available at: agriculture. arkansas.gov/arkansas-department- of-agriculture-programs/.
