A new Mayor-elect has joined our midst, Steven Rose of Cherokee Village. Rose was chosen among a slate of three qualified candidates running for Mayor of Cherokee Village. The race was not heated, though it did go through a muchcalled for debate, which was delivered to an over-flowing North Golf Course conference room filled with an attentive crowd of Cherokee residents.

Williams Baptist University announces the bracket for their 2022 High School Basketball Tournament to be played Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 in the Southerland Mabee Center. It all starts on Monday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. when the (6) Westside girls play (11) Sloan-Hendrix at 4 p.m. The 5:20 p.m. game sees (8) Trumann boys against (9) Hoxie. The (7) Hoxie girls will play (10) Walnut Ridge at 6:40 p.m. The nightcap will be (5) Pocahontas vs. (12) Maynard at 8 p.m. (5) Marmaduke girls vs. (12) Maynard gets things started on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. The (6) Corning boys vs. (11) Hillcrest follows at 5:20 p.m. Then (8) Pocahontas girls take on (9) Hillcrest at 6:40 p.m. The nightcap will be (7) Marmaduke boys vs. (10) Walnut Ridge. Wednesday, Nov. 30 starts with (4) Corning girls taking on the Marmaduke/Maynard winner at 4 p.m. Then the (4) Westside boys will take on the Pocahontas/Maynard winner at 5:20 p.m. Following that game is the (1) Salem girls taking on the Pocahontas/ Hillcrest winner at 6:40 p.m. The nightcap will be the (1) Sloan-Hendrix boys taking on the Trumann/Hoxie winner at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 will start with the (3) Riverside girls taking on the Westside/Sloan-Hendrix winner at 4 p.m. Then the (3) Riverside boys will play the Corning/Hillcrest winner at 5:20 p.m. Following that game, the (2) Tuckerman girls will play the Hoxie/Walnut Ridge winner at 6:40 p.m. The nightcap will be the (2) Tuckerman boys against the Marmaduke/Walnut Ridge winner at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 will be the semifinals with the girls playing at 4 & 6:40 pm, and the boys playing at 5:20 and 8 pm. The championship games will be played on Saturday, Dec. 3. The girls will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by the boys at 6 p.m.
