Annual hunter’s breakfast set

The Byron Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be having their annual Hunter's breakfast on Sat. Nov 12, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall at the church on Byron Rd. Menu will include sausage, eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits, gravy, coffee, milk, and juice. Cost is by donation. Proceeds this year will go toward gifts for nursing home and food for food room. Izard County Sheriff Office awarded million-dollar grant

When the Izard County Quorum Court met for the November meeting a variety of business was discussed, along with Sheriff Jack Yancey reporting his department has been awarded a million-dollar grant. Yancey credited Margaret Yancey and Olivia Bennett-Bear for their dedication in helping obtain the federal grant saying, 'The two of them worked for two weeks straight every night on their own time for hours and hours and hours.' Yancey said only three federal grants were awarded to the state with Pulaski and Johnson counties being recipients of the other two.

Veterans’ Day luncheon benefit to repair Ash Flat Veterans’ Memorial

After the services to be held at the Veterans’ Memorial in Ash Flat on Veterans’ Day, Friday Nov. 11, there will be a lunch to follow held at the Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village from 12 noon to 2 p.m. It will be a spaghetti lunch to benefit the memorial in Ash Flat, which has suffered severe damage from hail, wind and thunderstorms over this past year.
