Officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) have announced their Dean’s List honorees for the 2022 fall semester. To qualify for the MSU-WP Dean’s List, students must have earned a 3.5 to 3.99 grade point average for 12 or more credit hours taken during the semester.

Harvey John Taylor, 49, pleaded not guilty in the alleged shooting death of his wife Kristy May Taylor, that occurred on July 9, 2022, at their home located at 3012 Fawnwood Road southwest of Viola. Harvey made the plea in Fulton County Circuit Court on Monday, Feb.
The Junior Cougars rallied from a 28-15 third quarter deficit to defeat the South Side Bee Branch Junior Hornets, 46-44, and win the 2A-2 District Tournament championship at Sloan-Hendrix. The Junior Cougars (16-3) were led by Garrett Dillard with 15 points. Sebastian Nussbickel added 12 and Braxton McCandlis 11. The Junior Cougars went undefeated against 1A and 2A competition this year.
The Viola Longhorns shined for senior night as both senior teams defeated Norfork. The Lady Longhorns won 47-42, with the boys winning 58-41.
On Feb. 7, the Viola Lady Longhorns defeated Concord 43-40 to clinch second place in the 1A-2 conference.
