Calico Rock benefits from volunteers
Calico Rock was suffering from an identity crisis. Main Street had been largely abandoned, with only a couple of businesses still operating and most of the buildings dilapidated. Industry and businesses were struggling and the tourist trade, while still robust with fishing, left little to be desired off the river. It was the 1990's.
Salem BOE renews OPAA!, amend 2023-24 calendar
In a called meeting on April 25, the Salem School District Board of Education made some approvals heading into the 2023-24 school year. For the food management, the board approved to continue its contract with OPAA! According to Salem BOE president Karen Coffman, OPAA! had been the current food provider for students.

Salem Lady Greyhounds basketball
Please join us May 8, at 5:30pm to recognize our students-athletes with a special recognition of the 2023 3A Girls Basketball State Champion Lady Greyhounds. The ceremony will be followed by a viewing of the state championship game and this presentation of the game will be sponsored by the City of Salem. Between the ceremony and the viewing of the game, there will be an intermission for pictures with the players, as well as autographs.
Salem softball ends season
Salem Lady Greyhounds fall to Melbourne 16-3 in the semifinals of the 3A-2 District Tournament. At the plate, Allison Smith went 3 for 3, Livy Smith 1 for 3, Callie Hall 1 for 3, Katie Fish 1 for 2 and Katy Walling 1 for 2.
