State Capitol Week in Review

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas officials announced that the state is about to receive more than a billion dollars in federal funding for expanding broadband access throughout the state. Before the end of the year, the state Broadband Office will submit a five-year plan with details of how we intend to spend the funds.

Another Summer night of singing and swaying in Hardy!

Hardy Street Music in the evenings comes to you again, bringing you the Osage Water Band on Saturday, July 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dr. Thompson’s Park on Main Street, next door to Ruby’s on Main. Enjoy the hours at dusk as you sway to the rhythms of the music of this multi-generational band with their classic country, blues and rock. Their vocals and instrumentation appeal to the young, the old and all those in-between! Grab some dinner at one of the local restaurants and/or bring it with you to eat at the park. There is no admission, just come with your dancing feet and feel free to sing and swing along! See you in Hardy!

An evening of reminiscing: Come celebrate Hardy’s early days

Hardy History Association (HHA) is pleased to announce its quarterly meeting on Thursday, July 6 at the Hardy Gym located at 203 School Street in Hardy. The City of Hardy was incorporated in July of 1894 so we gather in the month of July to “Celebrate Hardy Memories” at 5:30 p.m. with hot dogs, chips, birthday cake & ice cream. Following the time of fellowship and food, our program will begin at 6 p.m.

Hardy’s Pocket Park emerges: potential site for new farmers’ market?

Prior to the Hardy City Council meeting on Monday, June 12, a special public meeting was held at 5:30 p.m. at city hall by Mayor Ethan Barnes and council members to discuss the possibilities for getting a Fun Park grant for Hardy. This grant is provided through the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism and is designed to promote the development and improvement of parks within the city. The city will be working with White River Planning & Development in preparing the grant application, which if approved, could bring in as much as $100,000.
