Fulton County Quorum Court: Appropriations approved for various departments

A slew of appropriations were made during the Feb. 27 Fulton County Quorum Court meeting, the meeting was postponed a week later due to the snow storm that came into the area a week prior. Among the appropriations approved was $5,000 for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office for an audit from a private company to conduct the audit regarding the Act 309 volunteer program.

Country Quilters Quilt Guild monthly meeting

Country Quilters Quilt Guild will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 12, at the Miller Hickinbotham building at the fairgrounds in Salem. The meeting for skill-building will begin at 9:15 a.m. This is for any person who needs extra help on a project or is a beginner at sewing. Pam Frye will be the leader of this session. The business meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Becky Langston presiding as president. After the meeting there will be a light luncheon served by some of our members. Following the lunch, Pam Frye will lead a program on the traditional wedding ring quilt block. She will bring patterns. Members participating should bring sewing machines, basic sewing supplies, and a few scraps of fabric. Please stay & enjoy our sewing party! Pam will also answer any questions on the sew-along. The fat quarter exchange will be any shade of green.

Ozark Acres Steering Committee seeks community input

When a 2022 lawsuit in Ozark Acres was finalized where plaintiff Debra Lumley claimed that the Ozark Acres Suburban Improvement District—where management and maintenance of amenities such as parks, roads and lakes is funded by collections of funds from property owners—was illegally collecting a levy on the assessed benefits as the amount due for the assessed benefits was paid in full before 2022, according to court documents. The matter was settled in court in 2023 leaving the community seeking next steps.
