Lyon College Director of Athletics Kevin Jenkins announced today that Michael Peckham has been named head coach of the Scots women’s basketball program. Peckham, who brings more than four decades of experience in athletic leadership and coaching, steps into the role following the departure of Casey Fowler, who accepted the head women’s basketball coaching position at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas.

The Fulton County Library at Salem wrapped up the “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program on Monday, June 30. Twenty-six students registered for the program. Each Monday in June, the students gathered at the library to listen to books being read, do an activity, and leave with a snack. We had several guests present including The Mustard Seed Nursery and Landscaping, The Arkansas Game and Fish, as well as The Fulton County Extension Agency. A big thank you to The VFW Auxiliary Post 9777 for donating snacks and treats each Monday!

The Salem City Council met for the regular monthly meeting on May 22,2025. There being a quorum represented; Mayor Daniel Busch called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m.
