Longhorns Tennis triumphs over Sacred Heart in season opener

In an impressive season opener, the Viola Longhorns tennis team went 6-2 in matches against the Sacred Heart Knights.The girls’ team started their season strong, by sweeping all six of their matches in both singles and doubles.In the boys’ singles matches, Aden Kiefer played two tough and lengthy matches.

Highland City Council: Discussion on school zone speed limit change, 5 ordinances passed

Two major discussions were held during the recent Highland City Council meeting where the change to the Highland school speed limit zone and city trash pick-up were the main topics of concern.The council also added five new ordinances to the books regarding building codes as per a requirement by the state of Arkansas.When Highland school began its 2024-25 school year, drivers along Hwy 62/412 heading westbound noticed a change had been made to when the school speed limit zone of 25 miles per hour went into effect.A police car notified drivers the signage to slow down began near the highway department building across from the red sign of Barnes Veterinary Hospital.
