Salem Greyhounds will have two sophomores to watch this season

There will be 13 returning starters this year for head coach Josh Watson’s Salem Greyhounds as two sophomores will be looked at to make an immediate impact.According to Watson, sophomore Aiden Province outside linebacker and running back and Sophomore Keaton Zeigler on the offensive and defensive line will be those impact players.“A big key to our success this year will be improving the passing game to take pressure off the run game,” Watson said.

Highland Rebels will look to improve on offensive production

With 19 returning starters this season, 11 on offense, eight on defense, the Highland Rebels, led by head coach Sterling Sowers, will look to improve on several key elements of the game this season, mainly offensive production as well as team tackling and the ability to complete games.In doing so, the Rebels will lean on key players Keagan Statler, Kalei Tokanang, Zac Huckabee, Aden Daggett, Wyatt Jason, Trent Sullenger, Jimmy Jensen and Austin Christy.Joining those players this year will be up and comers Reymond Demison and Lexxon Johnson.The Rebels will open their season on the road against Piggott on Aug.

New coach, new league for the ICC Cougars football team

There will be a lot of new things happening to the Izard County Consolidated Cougars football team this year.The former 8-man state champions will be venturing into 11-man territory this season along with first year coach Chase Brody.Brody talked about the challenges coming into this season as the Cougars bring just five starters back this season.“Instilling the confidence that we belong in the 2A-2 was the biggest hurdle at the beginning of the summer,” Brody said.
