The Cherokee Village Suburban Improvement District came to a unanimous decision for the approval to deed over three fire houses located at Onaga, Waketa and Baseheart to the City of Cherokee Village for $1 each. During a joint meeting between the two entities on May 5, the CV City Council agreed to pay the warranty deeds and preparation, recordings and title insurance costs to get a deal done.
An ongoing issue was raised once again during the Cherokee Village City Council meeting on Thursday, May 15 regarding the CV Animal Control facility.
Salem VFW Post 9777 recently participated in a Flag Education event at Viola Elementary School where students in the 5th and 6th grades learned about the importance of the flag through various engaging activities.
Circuit Judge Kevin King was a graduate of Highland High School in 1972, the University of Arkansas in 1976, and the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1978. He served the counties of Sharp, Lawrence, Randolph, and Jackson counties as Circuit Judge of the Third Judicial District. Judge King was always concerned about the welfare of students. The Kevin King Memorial Scholarship was established to assist students with their post high school studies.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution encourages its membership to be advocates for Literacy Promotion. The Literacy Promotion Committee, created in 1989, promotes adult literacy and involvement in literacy programs for children and adults.
