Fulton County Extension Agent Cory Tyler will be hosting “Straw Bale Gardening 101” on May 26, at the Fulton County Fairgrounds starting at 6 p.m. This informative class will focus on the benefits of straw bale gardening and what is required for establishing a straw bale garden.
Louis and Betty Breece, of Ash Flat, will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on May 27. They were living in Doniphan, Mo. when Louis retired in 2009. They moved to Ash Flat because they thought it looked like a nice place to retire.
Norman and Nova Decker, of Cherokee Village, Ark., will celebrate their 70th anniversary. The couple was wed on May 24, 1952 in Rockford Ill. They have five children, 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Ryan Wilcox of Mountain View, Ark., completed his instrument rating at the Melbourne Municipal Airport on May 2. He plans to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Aviation – Commercial Pilot upon completion of this program.

The women of Mountain Home Moose Lodge will hold their monthly chicken dinner fundraiser on Friday, May 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu includes oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, dinner salad, green beans, roll, dessert and a beverage. Mountain Home Moose Lodge is located at 4754 Hwy. 5 South, 2.5 miles south of the by-pass in Mountain Home. The event is open to members and non-members who sign in as guests. The Elizabeth Cemetery work day will be Saturday, May 14. In case of rain, the work day will be rescheduled for the next Saturday, May 21.
Mitchell Cemetery Association will have a free hamburgers and hot dogs barbecue. The day will be fun with games and music.
The Pickren Hall Community Cemetery in Viola will have their Memorial Day Decoration Dinner on Sunday, May 30 with dinner being served at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
