Ozark Acres Steering Committee seeks community input

When a 2022 lawsuit in Ozark Acres was finalized where plaintiff Debra Lumley claimed that the Ozark Acres Suburban Improvement District—where management and maintenance of amenities such as parks, roads and lakes is funded by collections of funds from property owners—was illegally collecting a levy on the assessed benefits as the amount due for the assessed benefits was paid in full before 2022, according to court documents. The matter was settled in court in 2023 leaving the community seeking next steps.

Strawberry River Chapter, DAR February meeting notes

Strawberry River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met Saturday, Feb. 2 with 21 members present. Following the conclusion of the opening ritual and officer reports, committee updates were presented on the following: Service to America, American Heritage, and Public Relations & Media. Delegates were elected to represent the chapter at the upcoming Arkansas State DAR Conference which will be March 27-28 in Little Rock. A nominating committee was also elected who will present a 2025-28 slate of officers at the April chapter meeting.

With all that’s been going on, I completely forgot it was Valentine’s Day this past weekend. Not to fret, I have gone on record countless times with Shauna in our over 15 years together, that it is the dumbest holiday out there. Like most holidays, it’s a way for corporations to guilt trip people into needing to show their love to each other through their wallet. In case you haven’t noticed, all things are expensive these days so going out to get flowers or chocolates or whatever the heck people buy during that time, is not worth it, literally and figuratively.
