It’s the middle of October which means autumn is in full swing. Sort of. When we first researched moving here one thing that came up was that we would actually get all four seasons in the calendar year. Then we get here and are told the ole’ cliched line of, “If you don’t like the weather, wait 15 minutes.” But that’s what we just came from. Southwest Kansas had two seasons, summer and winter. Fall and spring tried to pop in but it really didn’t last long. It snowed in May a couple years in a row and just last year in 2021, Christmas day was 75 degrees.

Letter to the Editor

Please thoughtfully consider voting for the millage requested by the Highland School District administration. A new high school will provide so many needed benefits for students, staff and community patrons. A safer building with room for population growth, an auditorium for the performing arts (theater, band, and choir) and modern facilities for career education (agriculture, medical fields, and business workforce) – all on one level under one roof.
