Since 2010, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has helped raise more than $1.1 billion to fund more than 675,000 scholarships for students attending 51 Arkansas colleges and universities. This week we want to remind you about the fast approaching deadline to apply for the next round of scholarships.

Apparently we are experiencing an upward movement in virus cases throughout the state which is somewhat attributed to the new variant. It is advisable to be cautious about your personal well being and practice appropriate health measures. Also, there may be a need for a second booster for those over the age of 65 with certain health conditions. Always consult your primary physician before taking any action.

Summer is a time kids and teens have much more free time which they usually enjoy with their friends. They go swimming, hiking, enjoying outdoors, and late-night adventures. Some teens will also start to experiment with drugs. A new study show more people try LSD, cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy during the summer.

Honoring Fallen Heroes

Arkansas native Brady Prewitt was recently laid to rest at his family’s plot in Sharp County. His return to The Natural State was a long time coming. The Navy Seaman 2nd Class was serving on the USS Oklahoma when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Delivering Improved Benefits and Services for Veterans

As a senior member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I’ve been blessed to play an active role in updating Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) policies including expanding access to health care, improving suicide prevention efforts and eliminating barriers for women veterans to receive VA care and services. I’m continuing that commitment to the men and women who served in uniform. In recent days, the House of Representatives approved a trio of legislative initiatives I championed that are now headed to the president’s desk to be signed into law.
