The Izard County Athletic Department held its first annual Youth Football and Cheer Camp on June 9 at Cougar Stadium and the Cougar Den. ICC coaches had a great turnout for the camp with over 60 participants. Thanks to ICC coaches and volunteers for helping make the camp successful.

On June 13, AGFC personnel from the Jim Hinkle Spring River State Fish Hatchery stocked 10,000 Brown Trout in the Spring River near Mammoth Spring, Ark. Brown Trout were raised at the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s Norfork National Fish Hatchery. The fish averaged 8.3 inches and had received a unique combination of fin clips prior to stocking. The Trout Management Program will use the fin clips to identify fish stocked in 2023 from ones stocked in 2021 and 2022, which had their own unique markings. Consistent marking and stocking of Brown Trout into Spring River each year are specific strategies outlined in the 2021 Spring River Management Plan. Marking multiple cohorts over time will help with evaluating Brown Trout growth and survival rates in Spring River.

A summertime golf tournament, hosted by the Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce and the Quad Cities Rotary Club, is coming to the Cherokee Village South Golf Course, Saturday, June 24, shotgun start at 9 a.m.
