The senior high Highland Rebels earned a big win on the road Friday night in Jonesboro-Westside with a final score of 22-14. The Rebels have one more game of the season on Friday against Pocahontas. Seniors will be recognized before the game.

Both of Highland’s Senior High Cross Country teams took first place at the district track meets, and their head coach, Blake Medlock, was awarded the District’s Coach of the Year honors. Medalists on the girls team included Izy Harmon (1st place), Kenlei Wright (4th place), Sadie Meyer (7th place), Autumn Pickle (8th place), Claire Himschoot (9th place).
With a team of Highland Rebels behind him, sophomore quarterback Zac Huckabee broke a touchdown record for the Highland Rebels during Friday’s game against Harrisburg. The record for single game touchdown passes was held by Reid Maag (Class of 2016) with 5 in a game.
The Viola basketball season is underway for the Longhorns. The senior boys faced Marmaduke in the first game of the season at the Longhorn Corral. Longhorns came up short but not because of a lack of effort. It was a great game of basketball.
At the Cherokee Village Fall Ball Classic held on Oct. 8 at the South Golf Course, we had an awesome day with some fabulous weather for golf! With a total of 34 teams, we had over 100 players from all over representing Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi.
On Oct. 13 at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, 17 of the state’s top high school golfers participated in the Overall Championship. The top three state qualifiers from each of the six classifications were invited.
The Highland Rebel tennis season came to a close last week, but not until after a trip to the state tournament. The Rebels had six players qualify for play in the tournament that was held in Clarksville.
