As high grain prices meet high temperatures, clock is ticking for corn, soybean growers

After years of depressed commodity prices, this could be the year for Arkansas grain growers to cash in — if just a few things go their way. The price of corn hit a nine-year high in April, as growers in South America experienced a low yields and grain exports from Russia and Ukraine have been significantly reduced by war and global sanctions.

Highland Trapshooters junior team wins 2022 State Grand Championship competition

The Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program (AYSSP), sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, recently held state level trapshooting competitions in Jacksonville. The Highland Trapshooting junior team certainly has made their presence known through the AYSSP competitions in 2022. After making a big impression through regional individual competitions, the resulting final team of five moved on to state competition in Jacksonville. They surprised everyone by going all the way and winning the first state team championship for the Highland Trapshooters.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Director Austin Booth applauded the passage of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act on Tuesday by the U.S. House of Representatives. Booth compared HR 2773 as the modern-day equivalent of the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson Acts. These two pieces of legislation have funded the conservation efforts that fueled the greatest comeback story for wildlife management in the history of the world, Booth said.
