Elsie M. (Kolesik) Martin of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and formerly of Westmont, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at home with her family by her side. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Elsie was held on Monday, July 25, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cherokee Village, AR with Fr. Amal presiding.

Elsie was born on February 13, 1927 in Westmont, IL in her childhood home. She was the daughter of Peter and Marie and Sister to Robert Kolesik of Westmont, IL. She graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1944 and worked as an executive secretary for Electromotive in LaGrange, IL. She was introduced to the love of her life, Stephen R. Martin, through a mutual friend Harold Debolt, and they went on to marry on June 16, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Downers Grove, IL.

Elsie enjoyed being a mother to four boys, whose antics were part of many stories shared over the years. She later joined Stephen in his dental practice, where she worked in the office, until their retirement in 1997, when they moved to Arkansas to join their friends George and Vernel Rickert.

Elsie was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She enjoyed her family and always remembered a birthday, calling them on the phone and singing happy birthday to her family members. An avid nature lover, Elsie enjoyed days on her deck. watching the lake and enjoying the squirrels and birds (cardinals were her favorite). Elsie was involved in her faith community, and always remembered for being one of the first to send a card of get well, congratulations, or condolences.

Elsie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Stephen R. Martin D.D.S., four sons, Stephen R. II. (Janet) of Amherst Junction, WI, Peter (Denise) of Cherokee Village, AR, Theodore (Tanya Lane) of Mohave Valley, AZ and Paul (Lynn) of Oswego, IL, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
