MILTON LEE HUMPHRIES
Milton Lee Humphries, age 90, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Salem, Arkansas. He was born on February 14, 1935, in Salem, Arkansas, to Cecil Elbert Humphries and Opal Ellen (Klipper) Humphries.
Milton was united in marriage to Carol Elaine Carson on April 9, 1955, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, who preceded him in death. Later, on October 7, 1984, he married Iantha Belle Bearden in Salem, Arkansas, and together they shared many wonderful years.
Milton was of the Methodist faith and a lifelong resident of the Salem community. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard, demonstrating the same dedication and sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. A hardworking and respected man, he owned and operated his cattle and hog farm and, in 1962, founded Humphries Milling Company, which he owned and operated for several years with Carol Humpries. He also owned and operated Humphries Real Estate for many years. Through his work and generosity, Milton made a lasting impact on the agricultural community and all who knew him.
He loved the outdoors and found great joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be remembered for his kindness, work ethic, and sense of humor.
Milton is survived by his wife, Iantha Humphries of Salem, Arkansas; two sons, Robert Humphries (Tina) of West Plains, Missouri, and John Humphries (Carey) of Springdale, Arkansas; three daughters, Linda Hurley (Mark) of Sonia, Georgia, Susan Johnson (Mason) of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Dana Cannon (David) of Blue Mountain, Mississippi; twelve grandchildren, Dan Hurley (Wendy), Joseph Hurley (Andrea), Ted Hurley, Ali Simoneau (Joseph), Annelaine Schmahl (Chris), Carson Humphries (Toni Newton), Maddie Fleer, Danielle Crites (Patrick), Brandon Humphries (Brittany), Connor Cannon (Kaylee), Tara Beth Fox (Jeff), and Whitney Dobbins (Richard); seventeen great-grandchildren; and a great great grandson on the way. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Humphries; his parents, Cecil and Opal Humphries; his daughter, Cindy Crowe; and his grandson, Brent Humphries.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Daniel Hurley, Joseph Hurley, Connor Cannon, Ted Hurley, Carson Humphries, and David Cannon. Honorary pallbearers are Joie York and William Branscum.
Memorials may be made to the Salem First Baptist Church Building Fund, the Salem Public Library, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
